I have to say that on this issue [paid parental leave] I do think that the former government could have done more, should have gone further.

Red Leather #60 - NSW Budget 2009-10

Welcome to the budget edition of Red Leather. In previous years this edition has come out a result of a lot of laborious work from my office because not all the information was available online. The good news is that those days are now over!

Below you will find the comprehensive links to all the portfolios.

The regular Red Leather will come out as usual on Friday.

Kind regards
Penny

Message from the Premier

This is a Budget for jobs. This is a Budget which invests in a better future for the people of New South Wales. At a time of global recession my government is investing in jobs. Over the next four years we will invest $62.9 billion on our State-wide building program to support jobs. That's $62.9 billion on projects like:

  • roads
  • rail
  • hospitals and
  • ports.

And we'll be funding better public services as well. All up my government is delivering a record $53.9 billion Budget this year, the biggest Budget in the history of New South Wales. That spending will allow us to invest:

  • $15.1 billion in health services
  • $14.7 billion in our schools and TAFE system
  • $7.1 billion on transport and
  • $4.4 billion on roads.

Given the economic downturn, a moderate budget deficit will be sustained, so we can protect essential frontline services. But we also have a detailed plan to get the Budget back to surplus in just two years time.

This is a Budget for jobs, recovery and growth. This website has everything you need to know about our Budget, so have a look, have a listen. This Budget involves your money and your future and we are looking after both.
