Gross Feed-In Tariff for solar panels

The NSW Government has announced a ‘gross' feed-in tariff for NSW households with solar panels.

Solar powered households in NSW will receive among the most generous payments in the nation, with a typical household receiving around $1,500 a year. The seven year scheme will commence on 1 January 2010.

The scheme will act as an incentive for households to take up solar energy, further underpinning jobs in the clean energy industry.

Shark Meshing Program review

The NSW Government is asking interested members of the public to comment on the draft review of its shark meshing program.

This summer saw an increased shark presence in NSW coastal waters. While the review is not a knee-jerk reaction to this, it's a timely opportunity for the public to comment on proposed management arrangements.

The shark meshing program was first introduced at most of Sydney's ocean beaches in 1937 and this is the first opportunity for public comment since 1972.
