New Train Services - input needed by 19 December 2008

Today the Government announced the draft changes to the 2009 Train Timetable. You have until 19 December 2008 to give comment - you can do this online.

How can we improve mobility to, from & within the CBD?

Following WYD, the Premier announced a CBD Mobility Forum, to improve mobility to, from and within Sydney's CBD. Forum participants will include current transport operators, transport planning experts from Government and the private sector and business representatives.

The NSW Government has a record infrastructure investment plan for transport including new train carriages and buses, the construction of the Epping to Chatswood Rail Line, the South West Rail Link and the North West Metro, as well as planning for the M4 East, the duplication of the M5 East, a Western Sydney Metro and other major transport projects.

The Government wants to use existing infrastructure and resources and draw on the experience of other major global cities in handling transport flows.

Super Metro Buses trial for Sydney CBD

Deputy Premier John Watkins today announced a new trial for better bus services in Sydney's CBD. The trial will include: 5 new buses that can carry up to 115 passengers; prepay ticketing; lower emissions using Euro5 diesel or CNG; no timetable with services occuring every 5 minutes in peak hour and every 10 minutes in off peak; all buses will be wheelchair accessible, air conditioned and feature digital CCTV and enhanced security.
